Kings Field Youth Cafe Project
Kings Field Youth Cafe is a new and exciting project run by Richmond Youth Partnership based in Bushy Park, Hampton Wick. The café is based on the concept of a facility that is “for the community and by young people”. We hope that by providing a café in a beautiful, child friendly setting for the public, whilst offering jobs to the young people attending the skate park we will be able to fund activities and space for the 13-19 age group. At present we are running two youth sessions for young people, aged 13 – 19, Wednesdays 3:30pm – 6:00pm and Saturdays 2:00pm – 4:00pm. Although we are a project for young people we also intend to open our doors at other times for the local community as we feel it is important for there to be a resource for other members of the park community. We shall be running a community cafe, starting end May 2008. This cafe will be staffed by young people from the young peoples’ project. It is our aim to be as fair trade environmentally friendly and child friendly as we can. As time passes we are planning to run different projects for young people, such as music, drama, and art workshops, sporting events, residential trips and other new and exciting projects as well as looking at what we can offer other members of the park community.
